Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s… Bigfoot? That’s the claim making waves among conspiracy enthusiasts as an old nature documentary resurfaces, allegedly capturing footage of the elusive creature.
The clip in question comes from the 2001 documentary Great North, directed by William Reeve. This film takes viewers on a wild ride through the stunning wilderness of northern Quebec, near the Arctic Circle.
But amidst the breathtaking scenery, eagle-eyed viewers spotted something peculiar: a shadowy figure darting upright in the background, apparently sprinting alongside a herd of caribou as they rushed toward a water source.
This isn’t just any random creature; some folks are convinced it’s the infamous Sasquatch! A Reddit user recently posted a high-definition version of this scene on a dedicated Bigfoot page, reigniting a debate that first sparked eight years ago during an interview with Reeve.
In that chat, Reeve admitted he didn’t even notice the strange figure until fifteen years after filming. “I was too busy capturing the majestic caribou to realize we might have filmed something from the next season of Finding Bigfoot,” he joked.
He assured skeptics that there were no humans in sight for miles, saying, “We were out there in the middle of nowhere—hundreds of miles from civilization.” So, no accidental cameo from a hiker with a Bigfoot costume.
Reeve, who also operated the camera, dismissed the idea that the creature could be a bear. “If it were a bear, it would’ve been running on all fours, probably while swatting at a pesky mosquito,” he quipped. “But this figure appears more upright, like it’s just finished a workout and is heading to the finish line.”
For those scratching their heads over the multitude of Bigfoot sightings across the globe, believers have an explanation: they think there’s not just one Bigfoot but a whole family of them.
Matthew Moneymaker, the head of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization and a former host of Finding Bigfoot, explained, “It’s like thinking every dog you see is just one individual dog—there are many out there! Sometimes you see two at once, and maybe even a few little Bigfoots running around.”
Adding to the intrigue, researchers from the University of Arizona speculate that if these creatures are real, they could trace their lineage back to an ancient giant ape known as Gigantopithecus.
“Think of it as the original Bigfoot’s great-great-great-grandfather,” Moneymaker noted. “They were smart enough to avoid extinction by staying out of the limelight and being nocturnal—kind of like introverts at a party.”
As the debate heats up over whether this footage actually shows Bigfoot, one thing is for certain: the world will keep looking for this elusive creature. After all, in the wilds of Quebec, you never know what you might stumble upon—be it a Sasquatch or just a really hairy guy running for the last piece of pizza at a wilderness camp.
The mystery continues! Stay tuned for more updates as the Bigfoot saga unfolds.
