Robert had been fishing in Proctor Lake, Comanche County, Texas, for as long as he could remember. As a lifelong resident, he had spent countless hours on the water, running trot lines for catfish and jigging for crappie. He cherished the tranquility and bounty of the lake.
In 1999, on a trip to Onion Valley, a secluded part of Proctor Lake renowned for its wildlife, Robert encountered something extraordinary. Onion Valley, as the locals call it, is a part of the lake that is uninhabited and teeming with wildlife. The area is dense with cover, and the lake itself can be shallow and full of stumps, making it a haven for solitude and nature.
Robert, a salt-of-the-earth kind of man who didn’t mince words, had been out in his boat for several hours, checking his trotlines. The day was perfect for fishing—warm and sunny, with a gentle breeze rippling the water. As he navigated through the stumpy waters, something caught his eye near the trees. Initially, he thought it was a deer or another animal, but he soon realized it was something much larger.
“I saw something walking near the trees,” he recalled in his no-nonsense manner. “It was at least 8 or 9 feet tall, covered in dark gray fur. It walked on two legs like a human, but it wasn’t human.”
It resembled what people described as Bigfoot.
Robert was stunned. He had heard of Bigfoot sightings but never imagined he would witness one himself. He sat in his boat, staring at the creature as it moved slowly through the trees. After a minute, it disappeared into the treeline.
“I wanted to take a picture, but I didn’t have any way to do so,” he said. “I’ve heard of people seeing these things before, but I never thought I would experience it myself. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.”
Robert described the creature as walking on two legs like a human, yet distinctly not human.
Despite the distance, Robert got a clear look at the creature. Its size and appearance were unlike anything he had seen before. He watched in amazement as it moved through the trees, wondering what it was doing and where it was going.
As he sat in his boat, Robert felt a mix of surprise and confusion. It was an unforgettable moment. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a camera with him to capture the encounter, but he knew he would always remember it.
“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all,” he said. “I’ve heard of people seeing these things before, but I never thought I would experience it myself. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.” Determined to remember the details, he spent the rest of the day replaying the events in his mind.
Since his encounter, Robert has shared his story with a few friends and family members, many of whom are skeptical. Proctor, Texas, is not known for Bigfoot sightings, and many people doubt the existence of such a creature.
“A lot of people think it’s crazy, but I know what I saw,” Robert said. “I’m not the kind of person to make up stories or exaggerate things. I’m just telling it like it happened.” Despite the skepticism, Robert remains convinced that he saw a possible Bigfoot.
While some may be tempted to search for the creature, Robert has no such plans. “I’m just happy to have seen it and be able to tell the story,” he said. “I’m content to leave it at that and let the experts handle it from here.”
Many people remain skeptical, citing the lack of physical evidence as proof that Bigfoot is a myth. But for those who have had encounters like Robert’s, the evidence is clear. “I know what I saw, and I’m not the only one,” he said. “There are plenty of others out there who have had similar experiences. It may be hard for some to believe, but I know what I saw, and that’s all that matters.”
Whether Robert’s encounter will be added to the long list of Bigfoot sightings remains to be seen. But for him, the experience was real and unforgettable. “I’ll never forget the way it walked or how its body moved,” he said. “It’s something I’ll never forget.”
